All my Linux work units are finishing correctly, but it will probably turn out to be a waste of time and electricity because all my wingmen seem to be Windows users, whose work units seem to be erroring out with a message like that posted above.

Well don't feel bad. Even some Windows work units can't validate from the masses getting the same error. People really need to look at the high RAM requirements of the project before adding their boxes to it. They probably don't even know they are destroying so many work units...

I know I didn't realize how many of mine were failing until just now. 2/3 of all the work I have attempted has apparently failed. They were borged boxes or dedicated systems that I don't watch all that closely.

Hope your not waiting on a response from the admins. You wont be getting one, I have been trying to contact them since May 10th and no response. The admin for this project is a child and school is out. It appears at this time that this project has been forgotten about. Be aware that you may never get a response from your question. You might consider working on another project and checking back here for updates instead of wasting your pc's here for nothing.

I have two linux machines on this project and one windows machine. The windows machine has 24GB RAM. It is failing with "out of memory" errors. It ran fine for months. Come to think of it, it started failing just about the time I took advantage of the "free windows 10 upgrade" just before it expired ...

Working set size has gone up from 1.2G to 1.7G on my working Linux machines. Task manager confirms that there is 20 gig free on my windows machine when it is failing work.

So, it is not necessarily that people are running undersized machines. The project just doesn't like windows machines right now. At least, it does not like my HP Z400 with 24 GB RAM running windows 10 even if I tell boinc it can only use half the cores.

Any additional help on resolving this issue?

I'm getting this error on all tasks now, even when setting max_concurrent to 2 in app_config.xml with 8G of RAM using Windows 10 64-bit.

Was completing them successfully on the same box and settings in mid-August.

I'm able to complete tasks successfully again after following instructions from user Snow Crash in this link:
